Planning your new construction

Define what has to happen before building.

A new build needs a clear starting point. A vacant site, an existing home to remove and a permit-ready set of drawings are different projects. Bring the property information and design work you already have so the next steps can be scoped.

Site information

Address, parcel details, survey and available soils or utility information.

Design & approvals

Current drawings, engineering, permit status and decisions still open.

Construction scope

Site preparation, structure, systems, finishes and work excluded from the proposed price.

Questions & answers

New construction: your questions.

Do I need approved plans before contacting Better Together Builders?
No. Tell us whether you have only a site, an early concept, a design team or submitted plans. That establishes which preconstruction questions need attention before a construction estimate.
What should a new-construction estimate separate?
Ask for site work, foundation and structure, mechanical/electrical/plumbing work, finishes, allowances and exclusions. Design fees, utility connections, landscaping and off-site work should be identified rather than assumed included.
Can you quote a new home from its square footage?
Area alone does not establish the scope. Access, site conditions, structural design, utility work and selections all matter. Use an initial budget discussion to identify assumptions, then price the defined design.
What site details should we discuss before design is finalized?
Bring the survey and available property records. Discuss construction access, existing structures, utility connections and any investigations the design team still needs. These can affect the design, construction scope and sequence.
